Members of The Echo, Trinity High School’s student newspaper, earned seven awards in the Western Kentucky University Mark of Excellence Journalism Contest.
Junior Forde Womack won three awards — first place in column/review writing and third place in news/feature photography and sports photography, respectively.
Evan Thompson, also a junior, placed first in sports writing.
Junior Ryan Kelly won second place in news writing.
Junior Tommy McConville placed third in feature writing.
The ECHO staff won third place for best news website.
Two students in the Archdiocese of Louisville placed in the top 10 in individual categories at the 2015 Governor’s Cup Middle School State Finals.
Carson Ching, a sixth-grader at St. James School in Elizabethtown, Ky., placed fourth in the social studies category. And, Gianna Meckler, an eighth-grader at Sacred Heart Model School, placed seventh in composition.
Thirty-two students at St. Xavier High School have completed the requirements to earn the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. They are:
