Sister of Charity of Nazareth Alice Adams, 90, dies

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Alice Adams died Feb. 25 at Nazareth Home. She was 90 and had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth (SCN) for 70 years.

Sister Adams, a native of Louisville, served in education, music ministry, pastoral ministry and community service for 52 years.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught music at Bethlehem Academy, now Bethlehem High School, from 1949 to 1958; served as director of education for the SCN congregation from 1979 to 1981 and as the congregation’s director of ministry from 1981 to 1985. From 1985 to 1999, she served as coordinator of liturgy at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral in Bardstown, Ky.

She is survived by her brother R.B. Adams, nephew Barth Adams and her religious community.

The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Feb. 27 at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent Church on the SCN campus in Nazareth, Ky. Burial will follow in Nazareth Cemetery.

Visitation will be at St. Vincent today, Feb. 26, after 4 p.m. A prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m.
