Sister Jean Madeline Peake, former principal, dies at 99

Sister Jean Madeline Peake, 99, an Ursuline Sister of Mount St. Joseph in Maple Mount, Ky., died Oct. 23 at Mount Saint Joseph. She was in her 75th year of religious life.

She was a native of Holy Cross, Ky., and spent 48 years as an educator. She served at Holy Name of Mary School in Calvary, Ky.; was principal and a teacher at St. Andrew School in Harrodsburg, Ky.; and was a teacher and principal at St. Bartholomew School from 1967 to 1985.

Sister Peake also served in the Diocese of Owensboro and in Missouri. From 1996 to 2000, she was director of the craft room at Mount St. Joseph.

Survivors include nieces and nephews as well as members of her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 27 at Mount St. Joseph. Visitation will be at Mount St. Joseph on Oct. 26 beginning at 4 p.m. A wake service will follow at 6:30 p.m.
