Sister Agnes Ellen Rose, a teacher, dies at age 85

SCNSister of Charity of Nazareth Agnes Ellen Rose died at Nazareth Home on Oct. 19. She was 85 and had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 66 years.

Sister Rose, a native of South Boston, Mass., served in elementary education in Virginia, Kentucky, Arkansas and Massachusetts as a teacher and computer program technician for 39 years. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she served at St. Thomas More School from 1959 to 1962.

She is survived by a brother, George A. Rose, nieces and nephews and her religious community.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 at Nazareth Home, 2000 Newburg Road, and after 4 p.m. in St. Vincent Church on the grounds of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth campus in Nazareth, Ky. A prayer service will begin at 6 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 23 at St. Vincent Church, followed by burial in Nazareth Cemetery.

  1. She taught at Annunciation Academy in Pine Bluff, Ar. She was a beloved educator. I know Jesus is holding her in HIS ARMS and she is rejoicing with the other Sisters Of Charity that taught us in Pine Bluff, Ark.
