Sacred Heart Academy is accepting nominations for its Alumna of the Year award. The 2015 recipient will be honored on Feb. 5, 2015, at the 25th annual Alumnae Awards Celebration.
The Alumna of the Year is presented to a Sacred Heart Academy alumna “who has contributed significantly to her community and enriched the lives of those around her,” a news release from the school said.
Nominations are also sought for the Heart Award, which is given annually to Sacred Heart Academy graduates or individuals “who have contributed significantly to their community at large or the SHA community and faculty,” the release said.
The Ursuline Teaching Legacy Award will be presented to an alumna who has dedicated 20 or more years to teaching. This award was established in 2008 by the SHA Alumnae Board to honor the Ursuline Sisters’ 150th anniversary of teaching in Louisville.
Former athletes, coaches and individuals who have been “exceptionally loyal supporters of Sacred Heart Academy athletics will also be considered” for induction into the Valkyrie Hall of Fame. Former athletes must be at least a 10-year graduate, must have performed with excellence in a varsity sport and continue to show sportsmanship to family and community.
Nominations are also being accepted for individuals who did not graduate from Sacred Heart Academy, “but whose devotion is equal to completing the requirements for a diploma,” the release said. A person fulfilling those requirements will receive an honorary diploma, the release said.
Nominations and supporting documentation should be mailed to Nannette Mershon, SHA Alumnae Director, Sacred Heart Schools, 3177 Lexington Road, Louisville, Ky., 40206 or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by Nov. 6.
