Scholar Fest

Assumption High School will host its inaugural Scholar Fest Symposium Monday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Humana Foundation Performing  and Fine Arts Center, 2170 Tyler Lane. The symposium’s theme will focus on “The Human Effect.” Topics that will be discussed include: “Art as Propaganda during the French Revolution,” “An Examination of Alternative Fuels” and “Modern Media Culture: Effects on Ongoing Psychological Development Regarding Gender and Race Expectations in Females.”

A news release from the school noted that six students from Assumption have been involved “in this independent research project piloted at the school called the Scholar’s Thesis Project.” Each student has worked with a teacher advisor, a community mentor and the project’s director to complete research on a selected topic of interest, the release said. Each of these six students will develop a high school thesis and present that thesis at the symposium.

The event is free and open to the public. To reserve a seat, call 458-9551.
