Trinity High School hosted a “penny war” March 29 and 30 to raise funds for tornado disaster relief. Students deposited money in buckets marked “UK” or “U of L.” The students raised $2,311.43, which was donated to Catholic Charities to help those affected by the recent tornadoes in Indiana and Kentucky.
- St. Margaret Mary School’s musical theater will perform “Grease” at the Parish Activity Center, 7813 Shelbyville Road, April 25 & 26 at 7 p.m.; April 27 at 6 p.m.; and April 29 at 2 p.m. If purchased in advance tickets cost $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. - The beginning drama students from Sacred Heart School for the Arts will perform in “Imagination Showcase” on April 26 at 10 a.m. and April 27 at 7 p.m. All shows will be in the Recital Hall, Angela Hall, building 17 on the Ursuline Campus, 3105 Lexington Road. Tickets for the morning performance are $3. Tickets for the April 27 are $4 for students/seniors and $6 for adults. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.showtix4u.com or at the door.

- Nine Sacred Heart Academy seniors signed national letters of intent to participate in college athletics. - Twelve Assumption High School students signed national letters of intent April 19 at the school’s media center. They are: Chelsea Bowles and Dallas Zimmerman, University of Tennessee Martin (volleyball); Morgan Foley, University of Indianapolis (softball); Phoenix Fowler, Bellarmine University (volleyball); Katie George, University of Louisville (volleyball); Logan Higgins, University of Tennessee-Chattanooga (soccer); Spencer Kurtzahn, Otterbein University (lacrosse); Elizabeth Lohr, Centre College (cross country/track); Taylor Long, Jacksonville State (volleyball); Caroline McCaslin, Elon University (cross country/track); Olivia Reibel and Melanie Strothman, Bellarmine University (cross country/track).
Meredith Lipp, a senior at Sacred Heart Academy, is one of three Louisville students (and Kentucky’s only Catholic high school student) named a semifinalist in the 2012 U.S. Presidential Scholar Program. Final selection of the scholars will be made by the Commission on Presidential Scholars.
John Paul II Academy will hold a mixer in the St. Pius X Community Center, 3521 Goldsmith Lane, for students in sixth to eighth grades on April 28 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The cost is $8.
